Joanna McMillan is a PhD-qualified nutrition scientist and lifestyle medicine expert, bestselling author, speaker, and long-time TV presenter. She is the author of nine books, including her latest, The Fibre Factor, A Science-backed Guide to a Healthier Gut, Stronger Heart and Sharper Brain.

With more than two decades in media, Jo has hosted programs including ABC Catalyst and Good Chef Bad Chef, and has been a regular contributor on The Today Show for over 20 years. Her TEDx talk has reached more than a million viewers worldwide, and she speaks regularly at corporate, industry and public events in Australia and internationally.

Jo’s work sits at the intersection of nutrition science, food culture and the future of our food system. Her interest in sustainable food systems and food futures is informed by both her scientific background and further study, including a Certificate in Sustainable Food: Production & Processing from the University of Cambridge. She is particularly focused on how whole foods, dietary fibre and food system design influence long-term human and planetary health.

Originally from Scotland and now based in Australia, Jo is widely recognised for translating complex nutrition science into advice that is credible, practical and grounded in evidence, without losing sight of the joy and social value of food.

She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Non-Executive Director at Cobram Estate Olives Ltd, bringing a systems-level perspective to food, health and sustainability.
